An Internet Casino Gambling Online Guide to Calculating Poker Pot Odds

October 26, 2012

It’s not surprising that Texas Hold‘em is the entry-level game for most poker players. The game’s format is easiest to understand, its odds most simple to calculate and strategy can be found at any Internet casino gambling online guide more than any other variation. However, as all poker players know, while it may be easy to learn, it is incredibly hard to master; calculating poker odds will go some way to helping you succeed on a regular basis.

Any helpful Internet casino gambling online guide will tell you, winning consistently at poker is all about working out if your hand is good enough in comparison to others at the table to warrant value by calling or raising.  In order to make this evaluation, poker odds are calculated by squaring off pot odds with hand odds.

Texas Hold ‘em pot odds are expressed using a simple understanding of ratios. They are worked out by setting how much money is already in the pot against how many chips you are being asked to contribute. So, if there was $50 in the pot and it costs $5 to call, the pot odds would be 50:5, or more simply 10:1. This shows you how many times you need to play to break even. If you play 11 times it will cost you $55, but if you win one of those hands you will win $55 – $50 plus your $5 stake. Therefore, the higher the pot odds, the more likely you are to turn a profit.

Now you have to combine these pot odds with your hand odds to get a full understanding. Hand odds are essentially the practical calculation of how likely you are to hit a winning hand. For example, if you are dealt Ace, King of Hearts and the flop comes down Ten, Jack of Hearts and Four of Clubs, you can work out your hand odds as follows. You have four Hearts, so you only need one more to make a flush; there are nine possible Hearts remaining, so you have a 9/47 chance of hitting your flush.

Furthermore, you have an inside straight draw, whereby a Queen will also make you a potentially winning hand. Discount the Queen of Hearts you have already counted, and that is three more cards that can help. You therefore have a 12/47 chance of making a hand you think will win the hand, which is roughly 4:1. In our example, where your pot odds are 10:1, the right play would be to call here, because the pot odds exceed those of your hand odds. In other words, if you played these probabilities over a period of time, you would win more times than you would lose.

An application of basic math to the game odds will give you an understanding of when or when not to play your cards. Poker odds—in their most basic form—are relatively simple to understand; if your pot odds are larger than your hands odds, the correct decision is to call every time.

A Casino Gambling Online Guide to Let It Ride Poker

October 25, 2012

Games including roulette, blackjack, poker and craps are the backbone of any casino, whether land-based or online. But players need fringe games in order to break the monotony. At one time, slots was the only option. But now, with the proliferation of the gaming industry, new games are being created for this purpose. One such game is Let It Ride poker. How is this game played? Here’s a brief casino gambling online guide.

The game is played on a semi circular table with the dealer on the flat side and the players on the circular side. Each player places three equal bets at the start of the game, then three cards are dealt face down to each player and three to the dealer. The dealer discards one of his cards and the remaining two cards act as community cards.

Our casino gambling online guide tells us, the aim of Let It Ride is to ascertain how good a poker hand is made from a player’s three cards and the two community cards. After a player sees his cards, he has the option of withdrawing one of his bets or letting them all ride. Once all the players have made their move, the dealer turns one of his cards face up. Now each player knows four of the five cards that will make up his final hand. It is time for him to make the next call. If his hand appears weak, he can withdraw one of his bets, irrespective of the action taken in the first move. If his hand appears strong then he can let his remaining bets ride. At the end of this round, players will have one, two or all their bets on the table. The dealer now turns his second card face up. Simultaneously, the players turn their cards face up. Each of the bets on the table is paid out as per a predefined payout schedule.

Players who have less than a pair of tens lose all bets that are still on the table. The remaining players are paid out on the following odds for each of their bets on the table: tens or better are paid out at 1:1; two pairs is paid out at 2:1; three of a kind is paid out at 3:1; a straight is paid out at 5:1; a flush is paid out at 8:1; a full house is paid out at 11:1; four of a kind is paid out at 50:1; a straight flush is paid out at 200:1; and a royal flush is paid out at 1000:1. There are special bets as well. For a dollar side bet, a player drawing a royal flush is given free entry to one of the million dollar tournaments, though there are few takers for this.

Let It Ride is a mixture of other casino games. It is played on a blackjack-like table, but functions as poker. The players are called upon to make intermediate decisions, which is a very important factor in gambling today; yet the strategy is simple, so the game helps to unwind the tension of playing blackjack or poker for long periods.

The Benefits of Internet Casino Gambling

October 24, 2012

When you compare the experience at a real casino to that of an online casino, you come up with a considerable list of benefits. However, the following are the largest benefits you will get from Internet casino gambling instead of going to a land-based casino.

The first benefit is the offers available from online casinos. Since Internet casino gambling is a competitive business many gambling sites will provide good offers to get potential gamblers to sign up for their services and stay with them. The biggest offer gambling sites make is to provide bonuses. Some even offer up to a 100 percent bonus on your initial deposit. Other sites offer random deposits of varying amounts of money into customer accounts. A few sites will even give away vacations and prizes based on the level of money you are betting on their site.

Another benefit is the Internet casino gambling site’s rules. Often times the rules and restrictions are better online than those in a physical casino. Due to the security of online sites, you can be sure you are safe as long as you are playing at a licensed and regulated gambling site.

Online gambling allows you to play from the comforts of your own home. This relaxed atmosphere can often make it easier to play, and you can have more fun without the added stress of traveling to a land-based casino with all the noise and people around you while you play.

Along these lines, another benefit is the lack of annoyances distractions from people around you. You do not have to deal with people who are drunk or those who smoke. You also don’t have to worry about thieves trying to steal your winnings.

The last benefit to online gambling is the fact that you don’t have the obligation to tip the casino employees. In a traditional land-based casino, you would be obligated to tip the waiters, dealers and other employees.

A Gambling Online Guide to Things You Should Look Out For in Craps

October 23, 2012

Some of the online casino games that people play are more easily adapted from their traditional tabletop versions than others.  In these cases, players have to be extra careful when choosing to play a game that they might love playing in a real casino, but may not be necessarily as good in an online environment. These are perfect opportunities to acquaint themselves to an online gambling guide.
Many traditional card games, like poker and blackjack, translate themselves easily to the online world, and it is easy for programmers to design games that replicate gameplay rather well.  Other games, however, can be so delicate to replicate, and they are so stock full of variations that designing a truly good online version of the game can be very difficult.  With today’s advances in gaming programs, software, algorithms, and the like, it can most certainly be done, but is it done every time?  Can great gaming, say in the game of craps, be found anywhere on the Internet whenever a player decides that they want to play? This is where our gambling online guide comes in.

Craps has a lot of things going on during any particular part of the game.  Aside from the fact that there are many betting options for players to choose from that makes this game so much fun, there are a few issues to deal with.  These issues can cause some trepidation to the craps game designer.  A random number generator can easily cause random numbers to come out from the virtual dice, and this is exactly what generally happens.  All of this is fine, but on the other hand, there are entire gambling systems that teach players how to roll the dice for maximum effect.  This is not to say that players are taught to cheat.  That is another topic altogether.  There are those that teach players how to shave dice a certain way, how to load the dice so that it spins a certain way, etc. These methods are very tricky at best, and in today’s land-based casinos, this is a method for instant disaster.  However, there are legitimate methods on rolling dice that do allow a player to have some control over how the dice rolls on a particular surface.  Obviously, this isn’t the case in the online gaming world.  If dice rolling is a player’s forte, they may want to consider sticking to live games, or just coming to the realization that they will, in no way, be able to control the dice on the table.  In reality, this may very well be the best option.

A Brief History of Internet Casino Gambling

October 22, 2012

The history of Internet casino gambling is short but sweet, with the story beginning in 1994 when the governing body of Antigua Barbuda passed the “Free Trade and Processing Zone” act. This act essentially allowed for the issuing of gaming licenses to any persons or companies who wished to open an Internet casino gambling operation.

However, after the law was passed, there was no software that can accomplish the possibilities, so in the same year Microgaming was born, followed very shortly by CryptoLogic. Both now known as giants of the Internet casino gambling world, these companies developed software and security programs so that in 1996 the first online casino opened its lobby to the world.

The years 1996 to 1998 showed growth beyond comparison in the online gaming world due to a number of factors. First, the speed with which the Internet and access to it increased within these years was unprecedented in the history of technology. Second, the number of casinos also increased. And with the added demand, software development galloped along at unparalleled velocity. It was during this period that Microgaming introduced the first-ever progressive jackpot: Cash Splash.

Just as it didn’t take long for the online gaming industry to gather momentum, so it didn’t take it’s opponents long either to muster an attack. Senator John Kyl, the Republican from Arizona introduced the “Internet Gambling Prohibition Act” in 1998; it died in the House. By this point the Internet casino gambling industry, only two years old, was worth an estimated $1 billion, and was showing no signs of going into decline. Nonetheless, Senator Kyl returned the following year with a repackaged bill; again it failed, but Senator John Kyl spent the next 6 years lobbying, introducing, and reintroducing bills.

By 1999, there were around 700 online casinos. And on April 10th of the same year, Lasseters opens—the first and last Australian online casino. In another landmark event in 1999, Microgaming introduced an independent auditing and payout assessments into the online gaming world. Using the world-renowned Price-Waterhouse-Cooper, Microgaming set a standard for all online casino providers that reflected the safety and security of play that casino customers required.

By the time the new millennium rolled in, there were more casinos than ever, more software providers, more progressive jackpots, more players and more licensers, with Gibraltar being added to the list. Gibraltar would go on to be one of the biggest license providers online.

By 2001, some of the biggest casino’s were boasting over half a million accounts, and even with the bills finally passed in Congress in 2002 and 2003 that limited online gambling, the industry continued to grow; now worth an estimated $49 billion.
